A critical and often unsung tenet of the Montessori educational experience includes the development of practical life skills. At The Nurture Center we particularly emphasize cooking as a regular part of the curriculum in our classrooms. Children are introduced to self-care by practicing good food safety and personal hygiene practices, develop motor skills through food preparation, and, by following recipes and using kitchen tools, enhance their reading comprehension and motor ability. By sharing with friends and instructors, students learn and practice interpersonal communication.
